Test samples have been collected from three individuals in the islands of Maradhoo, Addu city, and Th. Guraidhoo, after being suspected for the Covid-19 virus.
Government spokesperson Mabrook Azeez, speaking at a news conference today made the announcement that samples were collected from two in Maradhoo and one from Guraidhoo. One individual from Addu city had arrived back in the country from Malaysia before the ban on Malaysian arrivals, according to Mabrook. the second person had arrived back from India. The individual from Guraidhoo had also arrived back from India, said Mabrook.
Testing is being conducted on suspected cases by the government as a precautionary measure, if they exhibit symptoms of the virus. A further seven locals are also in isolation and awaiting test results.
Out of the seven, five had returned from India. Two had arrived from Trivandrum, and Kochi while one had arrived from Bangalore. The remaining two had arrived from Sri Lanka.
Mabrook stated that sample testing has been increased and would be increased during the following week as well.
