Local suspected of Covid-19 in Vilamendhoo Resort

A Maldivian in the Vilamendhoo Resort in A.Dh Atoll has been isolated and is being tested for the Covid-19 disease after exhibiting symptoms.

HPA informed that local was being tested for the disease today and the resort has been placed under temporary restrictive measures to conduct contact tracing and monitoring.

Vilamendhoo Resort and Kuredu Island Resort are both managed by the local resort chain Crown and Champa Hotels. Kuredu is the location of the first two cases of Covid-19 in the Maldives.

A total of four people have been tested positive from Kuredu, bringing the national total to six. Two more cases were confirmed from the Sandies Bathala Resort. All six cases are foreign nationals. The two resorts are now in lockdown.
