Bar Council announces vacancy for a Secretary-General

The Bar Council has announced that it is seeking a secretary-general.

In an announcement made Monday, the Bar Council stated that it is currently looking for a Secretary-General to fill the council's administrative responsibilities and implement the decisions of its executive committee.

The salary for the Secretary-General of the Bar Council is set at MVR 20,500 and requires the candidates to have seven years of experience in addition to the completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Law. The candidates applying for the post should not be in a state of bankruptcy, or have a case that questions the candidate's integrity and morality proven in court or the Bar Council according to the announcement. Moreover, the candidate should also not have a case of criminal nature proven against him or her in court.

Applications for the post will be accepted from the temporary office of the Bar Council located in the building which previously housed Jamaaluddin School until August 4. 

The Bar Council is led by Maumoon Hameed who is the president and Abdulla Muizzu who is the vice president. Executive members include Ahmed Muiz, Anara Naeem, Aisha Sujoon Mohamed, Anas Abdul Sattar, Mohamed Faisal, and Mohamed Aseel Hassan. 

The Bar Council will deal with the licenses regarding attorneys and taking action against them as well as suspending their licenses.
