Ceremony to release report to be held at President

The President’s Office has said that the ceremony to release the report of the Commission of National Inquiry (CNI) will be held at the President’s Office tomorrow.

Government Spokesperson Abbas Adil Riza told Sun Online today that the ceremony will take place at 10:00 tomorrow morning in the presence of the media.

The report will be presented to the President by the members of the CNI.

The CNI is made up of President Ismail Shafeeu, Co-chair retired Judge of Singapore G.P. Selvam, Dr Ibrahim Yasir, Dr Ali Fawaz, and former President Mohamed Nasheed’s representative Ahmed ‘Gaha’ Saeed.

Abbas said that the President will address the nation and present a summary of the report at tomorrow’s ceremony, and disband the Commission.

This will be followed by the report being sent to the relevant authorities.

The CNI was constituted by the President on 13 February 2012, to investigate the transfer of power on 7 February. It was reformed as per the Commonwealth’s suggestions in July.
