Superintendent of Police, Mohamed Riyaz, who was reinstated to Maldives Police Service following a civil lawsuit, has been appointed Assistant Commissioner of Police.
Riyaz was promoted to the position of ACP and handed his letter of appointment by Acting Commissioner of Police, DCP Mohamed Hameed, last Tuesday.
Riyaz was dismissed from MPS over a disciplinary issue, but later reinstated following a wrongful termination lawsuit filed by him at the Civil Court.
The Civil Court issued its ruling in favor of Riyaz in December, 2018.
Superintendent of Police, Abdulla Ahmed has also been promoted to the position of ACP.
The MPS media official, when asked for a comment regarding the appointments, said that that all officers due promotions were being awarded promotions.
