Maldivians arrested for flying drones at Lanka airport

Four Maldivian citizens have been arrested in neighboring Sri Lanka for flying drones at the Bandaranaike International Airport.

Sri Lankan newspapers reports the arrestees are three men and one woman, between the ages of 19 to 23 years.

The four were reportedly arrested in the Damminnagahawatta area in Katana last Saturday night for flying drones within a high security area of the airport.

They are scheduled to be brought in to the Negombo Magistrate Court for remand this Sunday.

Flying drones within eight kilometers of any airport is strictly prohibited by Sri Lankan law.
