MNDF at Airport to help returners from Umra

Units of the Maldives National Defence Forces are stationed at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport to help those who return from the Holy City of Makkah after Umrah, a ritual act of worship that Maldivian Muslims perform usually during Ramadan.

An MNDF spokesperson told today that officers have been helping returners from the Holy City since the arrival of the first batch of them. The first batch came back last Wednesday, and according to the MNDF spokesperson, the last group will come back tomorrow.

MNDF Spokesperson said that officers would help returners in collecting their luggage, putting them in trollies, and also lend any other help needed while they are at the Airport.

So far, some 500 people have returned from the Holy City.
