President Ibrahim M. Solih is set to visit the neighboring India under the new Maldivian Foreign Policy has been named “India First”.
Indian Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed the President’s visit on 17 December.
The Indian Ministry said that they would focus on building trust between the two countries and build a relationship beneficial to both countries.
As part of the ongoing visit to India, the Maldivian Foreign Minister, Abdulla Shahid met with the Indian Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj.
During the meeting, Minister Shahid said that the Maldives will be prioritizing Indian interests in it’s foreign policy.
The two also talked about the joint defense talks set for next month.
