The 25-story Dharumavantha Hospital is 95 percent complete, says Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim.
Speaking to press after a tour of the hospital this Wednesday, Nazim said he expected the hospital to be fully serviceable in February, 2019.
“According to the information I have received from the constructors and suppliers of medical equipment, 95 percent of the work is now complete. In Sha Allah, if things go according to the schedule they have provided, it will be inaugurated as a fully-fledged hospital in February,” said Nazim.
While construction of the hospital is now complete, the hospital has not yet received all the medical equipment and furnishing it needs.
The 500-bed Dharumavantha Hospital is a USD 140 million (MVR 2.1 billion) project financed via the State budget.
An additional MVR 818 million has been allocated in the projected State budget to expand the services of the Dharumavantha Hospital and purchase medical equipment and machinery needed for the hospital.
