The Department of National Planning has revealed that the inflation rate of Male’ has increased to 14.94 percent.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) shows that, when compared with June, the inflation rate rose by 1.28 percent in July 2012.

Compared with July last year, inflation rate has increased to 13.92 percent.

According to the Department of National Planning, the rise in inflation rate is due to hikes in the prices of food, and services of restaurants and cafes.

Inflation rate reached 15 percent in April this year, but has declined since then.

IMF has also indicated that food prices in the international market are falling.
