MNDF personnel advised by Minister to exercise caution when using social media

Minister of Defence Mohamed Nazim has advised MNDF personnel to exercise caution and act responsibly when using social media.

Nazim said that MNDF personnel should not be involved in politics, and urged them to refrain from participating in spreading baseless rumours on social media.

Nazim’s advice comes soon after MNDF took disciplinary action against a senior officer for how social media was used by the officer.

He stressed that MNDF personnel should be receptive to change, prepared to face challenges, and remain undeterred in their services.

Nazim informed that efforts are underway to strengthen the administrative framework of MNDF, and that the policies on national security and national defence are almost complete.

He added that these policies will facilitate the strategic guidance necessary for MNDF’s leadership.

Nazim mentioned that welfare issues of MNDF personnel are of utmost priority, and said that MNDF personnel will be conferred deserved promotions.

He informed that efforts are also underway to provide good-standard housing for MNDF personnel.

Nazim noted that it is the norm in many advanced democratic countries of the world to obtain finance for some military activities through means other than the government budget.
