Audit Report for Ministry of Home Affairs: MVR200,000 paid as fine for delay in water bill payments

The Audit Report for Ministry of Home Affairs for 2010 has revealed that more than MVR200,000 was paid by some institutions under the Ministry as fine, following failure to pay water bills within 14 days as stipulated in the Finance Act.

The Report states that in 2010, Home Ministry was fined for delay in the payments of 27 water bills, resulting in MVR267,275.52 having to be paid as fine from the Ministry’s accounts.

The Report also noted that MVR1,417,416.42 remained unpaid for bills of Maafushi Prison dated November 2010 and earlier.
