Ballot boxes to be kept at six more resorts

Elections Commission has decided to place ballot boxes at six more resorts for the Presidential Election on 23 September. 

Initially, the Commission announced that ballot boxes will be at 29 resorts. 

An announcement made by the Elections Commission tonight said that ballot boxes will be kept at six more resorts raising the total number of resorts, where voting would take place, to 42. 

 

The six newly added resorts for the ballot box list are: 

  • Kandinma Maldives 
  • Anantara Dhigu Resort
  • Robinson Club
  • W Retreat & Spa Maldives
  • The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort
  • Olhuveli Beach & Spa

 

Resorts on the initial list for the Presidential Election 2018 are: 

  • One & Only Reethi Rah
  • JA Manafaru
  • Kurumba Maldives 
  • Lux South Ari Atoll
  • Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa 
  • Gili Lankanfushi
  • Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives 
  • Huvafen Fushi Resport & Spa 
  • Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi 
  • Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas 
  • Vakkaru Maldives 
  • Velassaru Maldives

Elections Commission's announcement said that if over 100 people have registered to vote at a resort, a ballot box will be placed there. 

And if registered as such, they cannot cancel it and vote at their home island but a three-day period would be given to re-registered to a box closer to them if such an instance occurs.
