MVR 15M Madaveli Sanitation Project contacted to SJ Construction

Construction of a sanitation system in G. Dh. Madaveli has been contracted to a private company for MVR 15 million.

The project was handed over to private company SJ Construction as a labor contract this Thursday. The company has been contracted to complete the project within 12 months, starting from this Thursday.

The contract between the Maldivian government and SJ Construction for the project was signed in a function held at Ministry of Environment, by Minister of Environment, Toriq Ibrahim and Director at SJ Construction, Shihad Ibrahim.

Madaveli has a population of approximately 2,000 people. The sanitation system that SJ Construction will be building on the island was designed by Fenaka Corporation.

Speaking at the signing of the contract this Thursday, Minister Toriq said that sanitation services were available just in 31 islands, including Male’ City, in 2013. He said the number has increased to 21 new islands during the current administration.

He said construction of sanitation systems in an additional 41 islands are in progress.
