UN delegation meets Dr. Shainee

The team from United Nations Political Affairs Department in Maldives to mediate talks between the Maldivian government and political parties has met with the Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture, Dr. Mohamed Shainee.

Dr. Shainee is the Maldivian government’s chief envoy for all-party talks.

The delegation from UN met with Dr. Shainee and discussed the political situation in Maldives.

The delegation also met with officials from Jumhoory Party (JP) last Monday night.

Maldivian government appealed for resumption of all-party talks following the Supreme Court order on February 1. The opposition have demanded that UN act as mediator for any discussions with the government.
