Supreme Court: No legal obstruction to execute court order

Supreme Court of the Maldives has issued a statement saying that there are no legal obstructions to execute the Court Order: 2018/SC-SJ/01 which ordered the release of nine political figures in jails.

In the statement issued this evening, the Court said that the Prosecutor General's Office have requested instructions and discussions in regards to the execution of the order but there are no reason for a legal obstructions to execute the order from the relevenat institutes.

Following the court order from the Supreme Court issued on Thursday, the Attorney General, Mohamed Anil said that there were obstructions in executing the order and when shared with the court, their orders are to follow the due process.
