Maldives Police Service has announced its looking for Chief Judicial Administrator of Department of Judicial Administration (DJA), Hassan Saeed, for his arrest.
Police issued a statement this Sunday announcing the authority has document evidence of a recent transaction by Hassan Saeed for purchase of an apartment constructed under a commercial housing project in Male’ City, involving bribery.
The police said they also have document evidence two relatives of Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed and Supreme Court Judge Ali Hameed also made transactions for purchase of apartments from the housing project.
Police searched Judicial Administrator Hassan Saeed’s residence, H. Nishan Plaza, this Sunday morning. The purpose of the operation is unclear at this point.
Supreme Court issued a court order on February 1, calling for the immediate release and retrial of political leaders and reinstatement of 12 parliamentarians. The State is yet to implement the court order, but say it is following “due process”.
