60 per cent of Addu Convention Centre construction work finished

Addu City Council has reported that 60 per cent of the work of construction of the new Addu Convention Centre is complete. The Convention Centre is being built for the upcoming SAARC Summit to be held at Addu and Fuvah Mulah.

Mohamed Luthufy, Assistant Director of the Addu City Council Office said today that construction is in fast progress, and that 80 per cent of the work on the VVIP Area is already complete. He also said that 40 per cent of the landscaping work has also being done at the Centre which can house 3000 people.

The Convention Centre is located at Addu’s Maamendhoo RF Area, and construction is being carried out by Amin Construction. The Maldives National Defence Forces (MNDF) has been helping the contractor in order to finish the work on time, before the SAAR Summit begins on the 11th of coming November.
