Jumeirah Vittaveli to open Maldives' first ice rink

Luxury resort, Jumeirah Vittaveli has announced plans to open an ice rink for ice skating or ice hockey at the resort – a first for the island nation.

General Manager of Jumeirah Vittaveli, Amit Majumder reported in an interview to Telegraph that unlike regular artificial ice rinks, the ice rink at Jumeirah Vittaveli will be built using 100 percent synthetic material.

The artificial ice plates used for the rink will be produced by leading Swiss company, Glice. And the ice rink will not require electricity or water to operate, says Telegraph.

“We have many guests who keep coming back to us and I often hear that one of the reasons for their return is that they love to be surprised by our updates and developments each time they come,” said Majumder in his interview to Telegraph.

The newspaper reports the ice rink is scheduled to open in early December.

Jumeirah Vittaveli – run by Dubai’s Jumeirah Group has 43 thatched villas – each with the view of the beach and a private garden and pool. The seven ocean suites at the resort guarantees guests maximum privacy and is accessible only by boat.

The Royal Residence – inaugurated at the resort by Vice President Abdulla Jihad in March, 2017 is the epitome of luxury and exclusivity.

The 3,5---meters includes a private gym, restaurant and spa and a team of staff members to cater exclusively for the guests at the Royal Residence. It costs USD 35,000 per night.
