IGMH: Victim of stabbing showing signs of improvement

The man in critical condition after getting attacked near MHA Mart in the Maafannu district of Male’ City last Tuesday is showing signs of improvement, says Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital.

Abu Bakr Fariu from Carnationmaage at N. Miladhoo was stabbed at approximately 5:30 pm last Tuesday, November 14.

An official from IGMH reported to “Sun” that the hospital operated on Fariu and hooked him to a ventilator last Wednesday. And that his condition was improving.

“He is still being breathing with the help of a ventilator. But his condition is better than before,” said the official.

A second victim of the stabbing, Hamdhan Hassan from Maafolheyge at Th. Thimarafushi is also being treated at the hospital. His injuries are not critical.

Both Fariu and Hamdhan are suspects in the stabbing which took place near the Alcyon Bakery in the Maafannu district of Male’ City on July 19.

Seven suspects have been arrested in a raid on M. Sineeasurumaage – in connection with the stabbing near MHA Mart.

The suspects were arrested last Wednesday. Criminal Court has remanded the seven suspects to 10 days in custody.
