MVR 85 million budget for Presidential Election

Annual State Budget for 2018 has allocated MVR 85 million for the Presidential Election.

The budget presented at the Parliament has a MVR 116 million budget for the Elections Commission for 2018. The Elections Commission budget for this year was MVR 77.3 million.

While a budget of MVR 85 million has been set for the Presidential Election 2018, MVR 69 million was spent on the 2013 Presidential Election.

The annual budget also has MVR 26 million set for the by-election of the vacant parliament seats which is expected next year.

The election for the 19 Parliament Session will be held in 2019.

The annual budget for 2018 has MVR 24.2 million going to the political parties in the country.

With a total budget of 27.9 billion has been submitted to the parliament,MVR 22.4 billion is expected as aid along with MVR 24.9 million as expenses.
