2 selected for National Award of Honor; 24 for Special Achievement

The National Awards Committee has selected two recipients for National Award of Honor, 25 recipients for National Award of Recognition and 24 recipients for National Award for Special Achievement this year, says President’s Office.

The President’s Office reported in a statement issued this Wednesday that the two recipients of the National Award of Honor are former recipients of the National Award of Recognition.

The 24 recipients of the National Award for Special Achievement include 23 individuals and one private organization.

Three of the recipients will be receiving the medial for exceptional academic achievement within the Maldives National Qualifications Frameworks; 20 recipients will be recognized for attaining top rankings in a higher academic course or training; and one private organization will be awarded for attaining top rankings in an international museum or contest, says the President’s Office.

The awards will be presented to recipients by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom at the Republic Day function on November 11 at Dharubaaruge.

President Yameen will also be presenting special awards conferred by the State. Seven recipients will be honored with the President’s Medal for committing Quran to memory in its entirety. The President’s Medial will also be presented to students who achieved first place in the world top ten in the 2016 IGCSE and GCE O’ level examinations and in the 2017 A’ level examinations.

Scouts who attained the President’s Scout Badge and the guide who achieved the President’s Guide Badge will also be honored at the Republic Day function.

Four people received the National Award of Honor and 22 people received the National Award of Recognition in 2016.
