State appeals Juvenile Court ruling acquiting minor in Noor's murder

The state has appealed the ruling passed by the Juvenile Court regarding the murder of Noor Adam Hassanfulhu, who was killed in a knife attack near Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), which acquits a minor from a murder charge.

High Court has scheduled the appeal hearing to 11:15 a.m. tomorrow morning for the minor, who was 17 years old at the time of the crime.

Noor died on 28 March 2015 around 1:42 a.m. while undergoing treatment at IGMH from wounds sustained in an attack with a sharp object by two people who came on a motorcycle when Noor stepped out of the hospital after escorting a young man who was attacked near Euro Store on Chaandhanee Magu.

Charged with the murder, the Juvenile Court also sentenced another minor to death while the Criminal Court has finished the cases of two others who were involved.

They are Mohamed Sameeu and Mohamed Shamlu, both from Gnaviyani Fuvahmulah.
