Faris submits 47 witnesses in identity theft case

Dhiggaru MP Ahmed Faris Maumoon has submitted names of 47 people to testify on his behalf in the identity theft case against him.

Faris’ attorney, Maumoon Hameed reported the defense has submitted names of 47 people as witnesses and submitted 27 documents as evidence.

The State prosecution has submitted testimony of two anonymous witnesses and submitted one video CD as evidence to prove the charge against Faris.

Criminal Court had cancelled the hearing scheduled for 11:30 this Thursday morning as one of the witnesses scheduled to testify fell ill, says Maumoon Hameed.

Faris is accused of identity theft for allegedly using Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM)’s logo and flag without permission of the party’s council during a press conference at Mukai Suits on March 12, 2017.
