ACC rules Umaru not involved in corruption

After an investigation into alleged corruption into Whale Submarine company, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has ruled that that owner of the company, the former Home Minister, Umaru Naseer is not involved in corruption.

A case was filed at the ACC alleging that the Fisheries Ministry gave a lagoon to Whale Submarine company four tourism purposes in violation of the law. But the final report issued by the ACC after the investigation said that the government had not given a lagoon to the company.

The report said that the company made a proposal in 2014 to rent a lagoon in Malé atoll which was given to another company.

ACC report said that when the Whale Submarine company submitted their master plan, it had things outside the purpose of the leasing and so it was denied and informed to the company. And so the procedure was followed and involved no corruption.

In relation to the ACC report, Umaru Naseer told Sun Media that they worked to get a lagoon for the Submarine in during all presidencies and it was always done through the set procedures.

Umaru said that if anyone have any suspicions of corruption against him, they should file suit at the ACC and he would welcome it.
