Inguraidhoo MP Ibrahim Falah does not know the identity of the individual who offered him the MVR 32 million bribe to sign a petition for the impeachment of Speaker of People’s Majlis Abdulla Maseeh Mohamed, says Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
ACC launched an investigation after Falah claimed he was offered a MVR 32 million bribe during a press conference held by the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM)’s parliamentary group.
ACC announced after the investigation that Falah reported to them he did not know the identity of the individual who offered him the bribe. The ACC had questioned Falah why he did not file a case with the commission when he was offered the bribe, to which he said he did not file a case as he lacked sufficient evidence to prove the case.
Falah had alleged during the PPM PG press conference that the opposition had 10 government-aligned parliamentarians sign the impeachment petition against Maseeh by using money.
Falah said he too was offered money to sign the petition.
