President inaugurates Maaenboodhoo sanitation system

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has officially inaugurated the MVR 28.4 million sanitation system built in Dh. Maaenboodhoo.

The State budget-financed sanitation system was built by Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) – which was handed over the project on August 19, 2014. Construction of the sanitation system began in August, 2016 and ended in September, 2016.

Ministry of Environment reports the system will provide sanitation services to 174 households. The six-kilometer sanitation system has two pump stations, and a sea outflow pipe spanning 598-meters out the coast of Maaenboodhoo.

Management of the sanitation system was handed over to Fenaka Corporation in May, 2017.

The function to inaugurate the Maaenboodhoo sanitation system was attended by Maaenboodhoo MP Ahmed Amir, leader of Maldives Development Alliance (MDA), Meedhoo MP Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, Minister of Tourism Abdulla Zameer and Minister of Environment Toriq Ibrahim.
