Demonstrations in Vilimale over ferry service provider MTCC's decision to increase ferry ticket prices from 30th of coming October, have been controlled by the Maldives Police Services, and temporarily terminated ferry services have resumed moments ago.
The police cleared the Ferry Terminal Area of protesters and opened service counters only minutes ago, and the first ferry left Vilimale for Male' not long after.
The police used pepper spray to control the crowd of protesters, and additional people were arrested just before the protests were controlled.
Protesters are still there in the Ferry Terminal Area, although they are behind a police line established about 20 feet away from the Terminal.
