Minor charged over Anas’ murder

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of Mohamed Anas from R. Meedhoo – who was stabbed to death inside the Litus Service Center in Male’ City on July 31.

An official from the Juvenile Court reported to “Sun” that the 17-year-old has been charged with murdering an individual with malicious intent using a sharp weapon.

Anas’ murder case was filed with the Criminal Court by Prosecutor General’s Office on October 8.

Police have arrested a number of suspects in connection with the case; including Mohamed Shaz from Gulfaamuge in Th. Kinbidhoo and Afrah Abdul Razzaq from M. Lonumidhilige in Male’ City – who were captured while in hiding.

However, there are no reports on anyone else, except for the 17-year-old, being formally charged in the case.

The official from Juvenile Court who spoke to “Sun” said the 17-year-old has also been charged with stabbing an individual on the back using a knife near the Supreme Court on July 25.
