People’s Majlis, this Tuesday morning, provided its backing to the vice presidents nominated for Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) and Civil Service Commission (CSC).
Mohamed Zahid from Dhafthar 1548 was nominated for the position of Vice President of HRCM by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
46 parliamentarians had been in attendance during the sitting, but only 27 parliamentarians participated in the voting. He won the approval of the Majlis withn the unanimous vote of all parliamentarians who participated in the voting.
Shaheed Mohamed from Vaijeheyge in G. A. Vilingili – who was nominated for the position of Vice President at CSC – won the Majlis’ approval with the unanimous vote of all 26 parliamentarians who participated in the voting.
Tuesday’s sitting also continued with opposition parliamentarians raising their voices in protest and calling for the resignation of Speaker Abdulla Maseeh Mohamed.
The meeting was concluded as soon as the voting ended.
