Torched car belongs to PG Bisham

Prosecutor General Aishath Bisham has confirmed the car which was torched in the early hours of this Monday belongs to her.

Bisham spoke to “Sun” this Monday and said the car was official State property, and that the police were investigating the case.

Bisham’s car was parked in Janavaree Magu in Male’ City when it was torched in the early hours of this Monday.

Meanwhile, a private car parked near Shaheed Ali Mosque in Lonuziyaaraih Magu in Male’ City was burned down in a similar torching incident on September 27.

Bisham said the authorities will be doing everything possible to bring the perpetrators of both torching incidents to justice. She said the arson attacks fell under the category of “serious and organized crime”, and that investigations into both cases were being carried out under the advisement of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

“Necessary action will be taken and the perpetrators will be brought to justice,” said PG Bisham.

Bisham said she didn’t have any specific suspects in the case, and that the perpetrators will be revealed by the police during their investigation.

“I don’t have any particular suspects in connection with the incident. I will not hesitate to take action against any party. I will not hesitate to bring them to justice no matter who they are. I will remain resolute,” said Bisham.

Police report the authority was alerted to the fire at approximately 3:03 am. The fire was put out by MNDF firefighters and the case is under investigation by the police.

The fire cause no bodily harm to anyone, but caused extensive damage to the vehicle.
