Parked government car burned down

A government car parked in Janavaree Magu in Male’ City has been torched.

MNDF’s information officer, Ibrahim Azim reported the authority was alerted to the fire at 3:03 am this Sunday. He said that the fire was put out within approximately 10 minutes by MNDF firefighters.

Explaining the damage, Azim said all the windshields at the back of the car were shattered and the backseat had burned down beyond repair.

No one was harmed in the incident and the fire had not spread to any other vehicle.

The case is under investigation by the police.

Two cars burned down in Male’ City in September. The first one had been a private car parked in the Henveyru end of Lonuziyaaraih Magu. The cause of the fire is unknown to date.

The next day, fire had erupted from the back of a moving taxi near Dharubaaruge in Boduthakurufaanu Magu. MNDF has ruled the cause of the fire as a battery short.
