The MP for the Vaikaradhoo constituency, Mohamed Nazim has been ordered to appear at the police station.
Opposition party, MDP said that MP Nazim has been ordered to appear at the police station at 2 p.m. Thursday in relation to an ongoing police investigation. It is unclear as to which exact case he is related to.
While MP Nazim has been ordered to appear at the police station, cases against 12 MPs have been sent to court and their trials started.
The 12 MPs are the MP for North Henveiru constituency, Abdulla Shahid, the MP for South Henveiru constituency, Mohamed Abdul Kareem, the MP for West Maafannu constituency, Mohamed Falaah, the MP for Mid-Hithadhoo constituency, Ibrahim Mohamed Didi, the MP for North Hithadhoo constituency, Mohamed Aslam, the MP for Kimbidhoo constituency, Abdulla Riyaz, the MP for Thulusdhoo constituency, Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim, the MP for Hinnavaru constituency, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the MP for Kendhoo constituency, Ali Hussain, the MP for Nolhivarum constituency, Hussain Areef, the MP for Villingili constituency, Saud Hussain and the MP for Maduvvari constituency, Mohamed Ameeth.
They were all charged with obstruction of a law enforcement officer after the police lines were breached near the parliament on 24 July 2017.
