Island Aviation donates over MVR 500K to Rohingya Fund

Island Aviation has donated MVR 525,000 to the Rohingya Fund – set up to aid the Rohingya Muslim community being prosecuted in Myanmar.

The donation was presented on behalf of Island Aviation to Minister of Defense, Adam Shareef Umar, by Managing Director of Island Aviation, Abdulla Haris.

Speaking to press after presenting the donation, MD Haris said the management and employees of Island Aviation were only too glad to come to the aid of Rohingya Muslims. Haris said the company was willing to champion any such cause.

The two-day telethon to aid the Rohingya Muslims – initiated by Ministry of Islamic Affairs in association with the local media – ended at 00:00 hours last Sunday, with over MVR 11 million in donations.

Islamic Ministry reports that efforts to raise funds for the Rohingya Muslims will continue until September 30.
