MACL employee dies in middle of futsal match

An employee of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) passed away in the middle of a match at the MACL Inter-Unit Futsal Competition last Sunday night.

The employee has been identified as Mohamed Shiyan, who worked at the Aerodrome and Ground Aid Department.

The competition had been taking place in Hulhule’.

An eyewitness reported to “Sun” that Shiyan had suddenly collapsed onto the field. He said Shiyan was immediately taken to the Hulhumale’ Hospital.

A source present at the time reported Shiyan had been dead when he was taken to the hospital.

Whether Shiyan had any pre-existing medical condition which led to his death is unclear at this point.
