STELCO: Power restored city-wide

State Electric Company (STELCO) has said that electricity has been restored across the city.

Due to a technical issue, the capital city, Malé, experienced a city-wide electrical blackout around 4:50 p.m. today.

An official from STELCO said that the blackout occured due to a problem, which now has been resolved and power was restored in all areas by 7:10 p.m.

STELCO said that they are working to find the exact cause of the blackout. No further details were given.

The capital Malé experienced a similar blackout in August 2017 after an issue with a transformer.
