MTCC contracted to upgrade harbors in four islands

Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has contracted the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to upgrade the harbors in four islands.

At a ceremony held at the Housing Ministry, the agreement was signed by the Housing Minister, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and the CEO of MTCC, Ibrahim Ziyath.

The upgrades are contracted at the harbors of Haa Alifu Vashafaru, Raa Hulhudhuffaaru, Shaviyani Maaungoodhoo and Meemu Veyvashu.

Under the agreement worth MVR 14.4 million to upgrade the Maaungoodhoo harbor, a duration of 200 days are given to complete the project.

The expansion of the Veyvashu harbor was contracted to MVR 9.4 million and is to be completed within 180 days.

Speaking at the ceremony today, Minister Dr. Muizzu said that the completion of the project would make the lives of the people of four islands easier.

Managing Director of MTCC, Ziyath said that although a time period has been set in the contracts, the work can be completed early.

A total of MVR 23.9 million from the state budget will be spent for the harbor upgrades of the four islands.
