Managing Director of Aasandha Company, Hassan Ali, has said that most of the "Husnuvaa Aasandha" (infinite Aasandha health insurance) was spent on the pharmacies.
Speaking at a press conference at Fen Building today, the MD of Aasandha said that about MVR 300 million has been spent up to this point in the year and 26 percent of it was spent on the pharmacies and another 20 percent was spent on the expenses to the hospitals abroad.
Aasandha said that a total of 3776 people were sent abroad for treatment this year and 3304 people were sent to India. And the remaining 472 were sent to Sri Lanka for treatment.
The largest number of people sent abroad are cancer patients according to the MD of Aasandha. And so a total of 1101 cancer patients were sent abroad this year so far.
He said that a solution to that would be the new hospital developed in Hulhumalé which would specialize in the treatment of major diseases.
Hussain Ali said that once cancer treatment starts in the country, the dependency on international hospitals would be much less.
