Qasim to undergo heart surgery tomorrow

Jumhooree Party has said that their Leader, Qasim Ibrahim, is scheduled to under go a heart surgery tomorrow.

Secretary General of Jumhooree Party, Ahmed Sameer told Sun Media today that Qasim is set to get admitted at the Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital at 9 a.m. tomorrow for a two hour surgery.

While Qasim is to under go heart surgery tomorrow, Sameer said that the Jumhooree Party requests that all citizens pray for the success of the surgery.

Qasim's family has previously said that doctor's have advised that Qasim under go a coronary angioplasty.

Qasim left to Singapore for treatment on the night of 6 August 2017. He was originally treated at the Heart, Stroke and Cancer Center of the Paragon Medical in Singapore.

Correctional Service originally decided not to extend Qasim's medical visit abroad. But the decision was reversed upon the family's request and gave an extra ten days. That duration expires next Saturday.

After numerous treatment for a heart condition, the government allowed Qasim to get medical treatment abroad after 13 days of admission at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital.

And it was while in treatment in the hospital that he was sentenced to three years, two months and 12 days which was later changed to be served out in house arrest.
