The government of Bangladesh has expressed interest in facilitating training and experience needed by Maldivian youth in various fields.
Bangladesh government expressed the interest during bilateral talks held between the government of Maldives and Bangladesh, on Tuesday, during the South Asian Youth Summit (SAYS) currently underway in Bubaneshwar City, India.
Maldivian government’s representative at SAYS, Director General of Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ali Zaki Ahmed reported to “Sun” that both governments discussed cooperation in issues related to the youth during his meeting with Director General of Ministry of Youth of Bangladesh.
Zaki said Bangladesh was noteworthy in its efforts in creating opportunities for youth to set up small businesses. He said the government of Bangladesh expressed interest in facilitating training and experience for Maldivian youth.
Zaki said that what Maldivian youth needed most was to travel to other countries and gain experience, and that the meeting with Bangladesh supported the youth’s desire.
He said action, however, would come after high-level discussions between the two countries.
The Director General of the Youth Ministry of Bangladesh noted the achievements by Maldives in the tourism field, and said he wanted the youth of Bangladesh to learn from Maldives and gain experience by working in the Maldivian tourism field.
