SOF ordered to pay MVR 160 million to MMPRC

Civil Court has ruled against SOF Pvt. Ltd. ordering the company to pay USD 10 million to the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).

MMPRC filed a suit against SOF after the company refused to pay USD 10 million under the different agreements made with them.

In the ruling ordering the payment, the Civil Court said that the SOF failed to prove that it was money they didn't have to pay.

The ruling made in absentia of SOF ordered the company to complete the payment in six months.

The suit was previously deemed void since MMPRC failed to show up in court. But MMPRC said that they did not receive the court slip to appear and later found out that it was sent to a different place.

Today's ruling comes after the MMPRC resubmitted the suit.
