MDP Congress, originally set for next Friday, has been pushed back due to lack of funds and the party has passed to open a fund.
The decision to push back the congress was made at an emergency meeting of the MDP national council held at the conference hall at the building of Salt Café.
At the meeting, the Vice President of MDP, Mohamed Sifaz proposed to push back the date of the Congress since the allocated funds for the party from the state budget for political parties has not been received yet. And to open a fund to host the congress.
Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of MDP, Hassan Latheef said that a committee has been established to host the Congress and secretariats are working hard on it. And with over a thousand people expected to take part in the congress, it is estimated that it would cost MVR 2.8 million.
The MDP Congress has been pushed back indefinitely with the 28 votes of the 29 members at the meeting.
