The MNDF statement comes after some Indian news media outlets reported that the Maldives and Myanmar are preparing for a military exercises and pending a decision on where to hold the said exercises.

Times of India reports that all is "set to conduct joint exercises with two South East Asian countries, Myanmar and Maldives, in the coming months, " according to a top Indian army official.

"The exercises will either be conducted in Pune or in Belgaum in the coming months. The location is yet to be finalized," the officer said - reports Times of India.

While Indian media reports such news, the Maldivian government has condemned the atrocities being committed against Rohingya Muslims and ceased all trade relations with Myanmar.
