An employee of the Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has sustained a serious injury to the foot from a cargo container being lowered to a boat at the MPL area.
An official from MPL told Sun Media that an employee got their foot crushed by cargo container being loaded on to the cargo hold of a ship docked at the MPL area in Malé City.
The official said that the injured man was immediately transfered to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) following the incident.
Director of Public Relations and Media at IGMH, Ahmed Mausoom told Sun Media that a man injured under a cargo container was brought to the hospital tonight and is being treated at the emergency room.
Mausoom said that the man is being moved for an emergency surgery and the extent of the damage can be evaluated after the surgery.
