MNDF: No threat in Dhigurah - found empty container with "explosive" written on it

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has said that the suspected explosive device found on the uninhabited area of Alifu Dhaalu Dhigurah was an empty container with "explosive" written on it.

Information Officer of MNDF, Captain Ibrahim Azim said that the suspicious container they found was empty and poses no threat of an explosion.

An Island Councilor from the island told Sun Media that the suspected explosive was found this morning by a police officer and the area has been closed off since then.

Police media official said that officers of the police and the MNDF is active in the area after an explosive was found. The discovery was reported around 10:30 a.m.
