A video showing Dhaandhoo MP Ahmed Asadh carrying what looks to be a bag of eggs goes viral after the “egg fight” between ruling Progressive Party of Maldives parliamentarians and opposition parliamentarians during the People’s Majlis session this Thursday morning.
Government MPs and opposition MPs threw eggs at each other, engaged in verbal attacks and physical attacks throughout the Majlis session and afterwards.

Eggs were already splattered around the area where the Speaker sits at before the Majlis session began. Government MPs accused opposition parliamentarians of being behind the vandalism, naming South Galolhu MP Ahmed Mahloof as the culprit.
The allegation has been denied by Mahloof.
The Majlis session was held with security officers forming a protective wall around the Speaker of People’s Majlis Abdulla Maseeh Mohamed.
Opposition MPs called out for Maseeh’s resignation, throughout. Videos show ruling and opposition MPs exchange verbal attacks and push each other inside the Majlis chamber.
After the Majlis session, eggs were thrown on the door of Minority Leader, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih (Ibu)’s cabin.
Hulhu-Meedhoo MP Rozaina Adam, who was live-streaming the events inside the Majlis through Facebook Live blamed the vandalism on Deputy Speaker, Reeko Moosa Manik.
Reeko has denied the allegation, and claimed he was thrown eggs at by Gan MP Fayyaz Ismail.
“I didn’t throw eggs anywhere. Fayyaz Ismail just threw eggs at me and hit my ear,” said Reeko.
No video or photo shows any of the MPs throwing eggs. However, a video released by MP Mahloof shows Dhaandhoo MP Asadh carrying what looks to be a bag of eggs.
The video shows Asadh sitting inside the Majlis chamber holding a blue plastic bag with what looks to be eggs inside. Mahloof is heard asking Asadh to show what’s in the bag, and Asadh is seen ignoring the request.
“Sun” was unable to contact Asadh for a comment regarding the video.
