Citywide blackout in Malé

A large portion of the Malé City has lost power for about an hour, STELCO has said that the issue has been resolved and electricity has been restored.

The blackout hit around 11:15 p.m. tonight in Henveiru.

An official from STELCO said that the blackout was caused by an issue with a cable at a substation which caused the failure of two main generators.

The official said that electricity has not been restored citywide and it would take some time do so.
