Nihan: Not enough votes because some MPs are abroad

Majority Leader, Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik has said that they only got 28 votes in the parliament vote today because some MPs are currently abroad.

The parliament vote today was to appoint Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu) as the Maldivian Ambassador to Sri Lanka. Only 28 MPs voted in favor of the decision. No opposition MPs took part in the vote.

MP Nihan raised the question as to why the opposition didn't take part in the vote to demonstrate their power in the parliament.

The Majority Leader said all MPs that took part in vote today voted how the government wanted and so displayed the support for the government with 100 percent vote.

Nihan said that PPM has 48 MPs in the parliament but the question has to be asked whether some of them may vote against a whip-line.
