Judicial Administration’s statistics show 1,476 divorces in Maldives so far, this year.

The statistics released by Judicial Administration this Tuesday shows 2,292 marriages have taken place in Maldives so far, this year; and 1,476 divorces.

The divorce rate shows a fall compared to 2016, which saw 1,808 divorces take place in Maldives over the same period. The statistics show an 18 percent fall.

The total number of divorces in Maldives in 2016 was 3,417.

Maldives has a comparatively high divorce rate compared to other countries. The divorce rate in 2016 was higher than 2015.
