Toriq: President’s focus for development is unshakable

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s focus is towards the future and the focus is unshakable, says Minister of Environment and Energy, Toriq Ibrahim.

Toriq made the comment during the function held at Dharubaaruge last Saturday night to celebrate MWSC’s 22-year anniversary.

Toriq said the country was undertaking bigger water and sanitation projects that ever before, under President Yameen’s leadership. He said that certain individuals were spreading misinformation and creating barriers for the government required to secure necessary funding for development projects.

He said all Maldivians should facilitate such projects, which are undertaken for the benefit of the people. He invited the opposition to work together with the government to fasten the pace of development.

“The opposition, work to facilitate basic necessities to the people. It will be beneficial to all if, instead of deterring it because it’s being undertaken by us, you support it,” said Toriq.

He said the opposition should leave the development projects at the hands of the experts and stop attempting to deter the projects.

“President Yameen’s focus is towards the development the people need. The opposition cannot shake that focus. This government will bring development.”
